Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Access control for the facility/area
  • Present a professional, customer-friendly image at all times
  • Ability to handle conflicts and incidents, and to de-escalate situations
  • Patrolling and following protocols as per the post orders, which may include indoor or outdoor patrols, managing the movement of traffic at various points throughout the property, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to the facility’s safety and emergency procedures in response to fire alarms and other site emergencies
  • Undertake site-specific training, follow guidance from the Site Manager or Supervisor
  • Demonstrate logic, common sense, and decision-making abilities, particularly when required to take charge and direct others in emergencies or different incidents
  • Meticulous record-keeping, report writing, observation skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Operate/monitor security room equipment, complete site-required training

The Ideal Candidate

  • Valid Provincial Security Guard License (If available)
  • Valid First Aid & CPR and AED certification (If available)
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
  • Flexible availability for varying shifts (Days/Evenings/Overnights)
