The DRD scholarship for Sub-Saharan Africans is a program that targets basically the development of society. Consequently, the courses it requires must conform to that target. To be a beneficiary of the scholarship, candidates must be seeking to study for a master’s in Development Studies in public administration. For those going for their PhDs, their options are more or less the same but at the canter of (Ph.D. UWC).

Benefits:

The most important benefit package of the DRD Scholarships for Sub-Saharan Africans is that it covers all tuition and registration fees for the entire duration of the studies. This implies that the awardees of the scholarship would basically study for free because the program covers all their academic expenses.

These would include tuition fees and registration fees as well. Other benefits include monthly stipends of EUR 650. This is in addition to EUR 900 basic travel allowances given to both the Master and the Ph.D. candidates.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants should be from Sub-Sahara Africa;
  • Applicants should have an outstanding academic record of at least 70% for their last degree;
  • Applicants should apply within 6 years of having completed their previous degree;
  • The study must have been completed at an internationally recognized university;
  • Applicants must be able to study full-time at the UWC for the required period.
  • The previous degree (Baccalaureate or Master) should have been an academic discipline that is related to Development Studies or Public Administration
  • South African students are required to have an honors degree in order to be admitted to a Master’s degree course. Other students need the equivalent of a 4-year undergraduate degree
  • Applicants are to present evidence of proficiency in English, both written and verbal. TOEFL test or a similar standard test or a letter from an academic institution is highly recommended.
